Packing List (Just a suggestion)

I hope the below list is helpful when it's finally time for you to start packing...get excited!!

PRE-DEPARTURE

  • Read the Travel Advisory for your destination
  • Register on smarttraveller.gov.au (not sure what the equivalent in other countries is but in Australia, this website provides travel advice, registration of travel, and general travel information)
  • Passport (make sure it's valid for at least 6-12 months!)
  • Visa (in australia please refer to http://www.vfs-in-au.net)
  • Health Documentation and vaccinations
  • Transportation Tickets
  • Emergency Information
  • Insurance
  • Currency (I exchanged about $100 Australia and had money left over)
  • Guide Books and Maps (just for reference)
  • Trip Cancellation/Medical Insurance
  • Personal Identification
  • Photocopies of Documentation
  • AMOR Trip payment and information 

BASIC

  • Luggage/Travel Pack
  • Travel Clothing - PACK LIGHT, I packed 3 paris of cotton loose pants (long) and 2 cotton shirts (long sleeve, NO low cuts). I took a laundry soap and washed and dried when I needed it.
  • Rain Protection - it's going to be monsoon season when we get there, I'm not sure how practical gum boots would be as not only will they be heavy but may be difficult to walk in
  • Travel Footwear - I wore one pair of light sandals but you may want to bring an extra pair of walking shoes
  • Thongs (what we call flip flops in Australia) to wear in the shower
  • underwear and socks
  • bikini to wear in shower (I didn't need this anywhere we went but just in case)
  • light jacket or sarong
  • Visor or Brimmed Hat
  • Water Bottle - important!
  • Travel Journal
  • Scarf/Bandanna - to cover your head or mouth, there's lots of dust and pollution levels are high in India
  • Travel Locks
  • Luggage ID Tags
  • fanny pack/bumbag and safe travel pouch/money belt 
  • small day bag or backpack
  • bible (if you would like to read bible on the trip)
  • quick dry towel

MAINTENANCE ITEMS

  • Flashlight 
  • Visa
  • Mini Sewing/Repair Kit
  • small laundry soap
  • Mesh Bag for Dirty Laundry
  • Zip close/lock Plastic Bags
  • wet wipes and hand sanitizer
  • Adapter 

MEDICATION

  • Aspirin/Pain Reliever
  • electrolytes 
  • peppermint oil (I didn't have to use this but it's helpful if you are sensitive to smells, but we didn't experience any extreme smells on our trip)
  • hand sanitizer 
  • antibiotics
  • Cold Medicine
  • Diarrhea Medicine
  • Contact Lens Preparation
  • Laxative
  • Insect Repellent/bed bug spray (I also got insect repellent patches you can stick on your bed at night, available at chemists which helped alot)
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunburn Relief
  • Antibiotic Cream
  • Malaria Pills
  • Motion Sickness Medicine (ginger tablets are great)
  • Personal Hygiene Items
  • Personal Prescription
  • Water Purification System (you can get small, light sachets)
  • Vitamins (if you need them)
